We Are God’s Workmanship, Created To Serve God’s Purpose.
8. For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgement and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort] but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;
9. Not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].
10. For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above – spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us] – Ephesians 2
The Bible tells us in the Book of Genesis 1:26, that we were created by God with a definite purpose. We are made to serve God by serving His purpose. We do not exist for ourselves. The Bible verse in the Book of Ephesians which we just read, says, “we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Just like a potter makes a clay pot to hold water, just like a wood crafter works wood and nails into a chair for sitting, we are God’s workmanship made for the purpose of serving Him. We are not simply made to sit in the stands and watch the game of life pass by, we are made to get in the game and make our contribution in the work of God.
If we are made by God to do good works, it means that our good works should glorify God. This, the Bible says, is what “God prepared in advance for us to do.” He has a plan for us, every one of us, and not just some. God has given us some people that we can serve, some that we are to help and care for, some others that we can lead to Christ.
The Bible portion we read in the book of 1 Peter 4:10, says, “each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
The Almighty God has endowed us with certain gifts so that we can use them for His glory and be a blessing to the world wherein we live. We are to be faithful in utilizing these gifts for His glory. God Who is All-knowing, carefully crafted each one of us as a Designer’s original, which means that every one of us is” unique.” We do not need to compare ourselves with one another, or try to be like someone else. Each one of us is different, by God’s wise design, but we are given some gifts which God expects us to utilize for His glory.
When you compare, you can be sure that you will find someone who is better than you in some way, and it could stir up discouragement. Or, you could find someone who is not as good as you in some way, and it could stir up a feeling of pride. Either way, God does not want us to compare ourselves one with another. Our focus is to be on Jesus Christ, and Him exclusively.
God made us different so that we can bring the variety of our gifts and contribute to His Work. When everyone contributes their gift and we complement one another, God’s Work is done. We have a responsibility to be diligent and faithful in utilizing our gifts for God’s glory.
A pond will become stagnant when it takes in water but does not give out any of it. God expects us to be doers of the Word which we are fed with. This much seems quite clear in the parable of the good Samaritan which Jesus spoke of in the book of Luke 10:25-37. The person who pleases God is not the one who knows what is right – like the priest and the Levite, but the one who does what is right, like the Good Samaritan. It is comfortable to just know but yet not do, because doing may sometimes require us to leave our comfort zone and make sacrifices. But the Bible says in the book of James 2:20 that, “Faith without deeds is useless.”
Anyone can serve God. In fact, everyone is called to serve God. You do not need a diploma or degree to serve God [even though He can use our degrees as well]. You just need a heart that is devoted to God and obedient to Him. Service is an attitude.
THANK YOU, JESUS!
If you have been blessed by this Christian blog site, and you haven’t
given your life to Christ Jesus, I now invite you to make Jesus Christ The Lord
of your life by sincerely saying this prayer:
“Dear Lord God, My Heavenly Father, I come to You in the
Name of Jesus Christ. Your Word says, “…..whosoever
shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).
I ask Jesus to come into my heart to be the LORD of my life.
I receive eternal life into my spirit and according to Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved,” I declare that I am saved; I am born –
again; I am a child of God! I now have Christ dwelling in me, and greater is He
that is in me than he that is in the world! (1 John 4:4). I now walk in the
consciousness of my new life in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah! Amen!
Congratulations! You are now a child of God.
Always, expect a new post daily!
