Thinking an effective tool for the Prayer Warrior.

Ephesians 3:20

There is a place for thinking for a Prayer Warrior. God is telling us this morning that we have to think. Though it is often said that it’s not good to think too much i.e. in terms of worrying but the Thinking we are considering this morning is when you meditate on what God has done or can do. Phil 4:8 says finally whatsoever things are true, honest just, pure, lovely and of good report think on these things.

Instead of complaining and murmuring that nothing is happening in our lives, that prayers are not answered we should think only on the good things God has done. Even when Job’s wife told him to curse GOD and die, he must have thought that she didn’t know what she was saying that if only she could think of the goodness of God and all He had done before the calamities befell them; she would rather give thanks instead of complaining.

Check the Dictionary definition of Thinking.

For our discussion, Thinking is to reflect, to understand, to remember to consider and to meditate on what God has done, what He is doing and what he wants to do. It is to Wait on God and ponder. When you are thinking you are focusing and focusing, without distractions is like praying. When you commune in your heart you are praying. Remember God sees the heart.

One of the things thinking will do for us is to point us back to God and to take issues back to him.

Thinking is what philosophers do. They think a lot

As prayer warriors we must Chanel our thinking towards GOD. An adage says he that knows how to think well knows how to thank God and to pray well. Thinking is a weapon in the hands of the prayer Warrior.

BENEFITS OF THINKING:

1)It helps us to value life.  E.g. when you think that one could have died at birth. Or travel and never return home. We are not better than those who suffer such calamities so when we think about how God has kept us it makes us value life the more.

2)It helps us to Chanel our prayers and not to pray amiss. When we think deeply, we will not pray irrelevantly.

3)It recalls to our mind the awesomeness of God. If we think of heaven and what is going on there as per how worship is going on 24/7 by the angels and 24 elders, we will not misbehave. If we take time to think of eternity, we will be better Christians.

4)It encourages and comforts us to forge ahead. When we think we have an idea of what lies ahead and as such we don’t give up easily but forge ahead and achieve our goals.

5) Thinking helps us to examine and assess ourselves properly. 2 Corinthians 13:5 says “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

We see ourselves better in our thoughts i.e. in our reflections. Thinking in the sense of this discussion as far as self-examination is concerned is like mirroring yourself to see and know who you truly are.

May the Lord help me to make an honest assessment of myself through thinking and make amends where necessary.

May the Lord help me not to worry or complain but to be a worshipper that appreciates Him for who He is and all He has done, is doing and will still do in my life in Jesus’ name.

Jesus Maranatha.

God bless us all.
