Trust in GOD. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. God is always faithful. We need to trust God. Have faith in God. Because Jesus Christ overcame, we shall also overcome.
Bible Text : Isaiah 40:27-31
27: Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakers, O Israel, My way is his from the Lord , and my judgement is passed over from my God?
28: Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding
29: He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength
30: Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall
31: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they sha walk, and not faint.
Father we give all the glory and praise to Your Holy name for the blessings of the new month of May. We are very grateful for the four months of the year so far. We are confident that in accordance with Your word in Phil 1:6, the good thing You have started in our lives will be completed to the glory of Your name. We pray that in this month of grace, we shall see Your hand of grace upon our land. By Your grace, deliver our country from the vice grip of wicked elements. Help us to be more hopeful and positive about the prospects of a united and progressive country in the name of our Jesus Christ we ask. Amen.
There are periods of our lives when it looks like things are not working well. When it seems God has forsaken us. When all look downcast and gloomy.
Inorder to endure, tired and weary people need God’s help. The word of God in Isaiah 40:27-31 gives comfort and motivation to people who need strength to keep going. These timeless words remind fatigued and discouraged people that the Lord is not uncaring and that He notices our plight.
The “second wind strength” mentioned in Isaiah 40:29-31 is what we need when we are spiritually, physically or financially burdened. It is the strength that awaits those who- (through meditating on the scriptures and prayer)- wait upon the Lord.
It must be made clear from the outset that although a Christian may feel abandoned by God, the feeling is the result of illusion, not reality. We are never really abandoned, even though we may feel abandoned. God is always faithful. His word says in 2 Tim 2:13 that when we are faithless He remains faithful because faithfulness is His nature.
Pastors and all who are entrusted with the care of souls are familiar with people who feel forsaken by the Lord. We meet people in counselling who say they feel deserted by God. Some of us might not have gone through that experience, but quite a large number of people have. What do you say to someone who has lost more than one child to death, or to a young widow with very young children who have to deal with very hostile and unfriendly in-laws.
What do you say to people in Kaduna, Zamfara or the North East zone of Nigeria who are daily bombarded with sorrow, pain and tears as a result of an unending banditry and terrorism. The Christians in those communities feel especially abandoned. All over our nation there seem to be an evil spirit seeking the blood of the innocent and ordinary folks. What should we do? We need to trust God. Have faith in God. Mark 11:22
We can also feel God is not interested in us or is far away by the malfunctioning of our physical bodies. Anxiety, Depression, having a faulty concept of God, unrealistic expectations, irrational fears and so on.
When wrong thoughts or negative thoughts are running around our head, God will seem far away. When the feeling of being abandoned by God comes mainly from the thoughts in our head, then, good Christian counselling can show us how to deal with them. You cannot solve this problem yourself, discuss the issue with a mature Christian friend.
Our Lord Jesus Christ felt the same in Matthew 27:46 when He cried “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” What we need at this stage of life is understanding of who God is. Because Jesus Christ overcame, we shall also overcome.
“When you don’t understand what is happening in your life, start with what you know for sure; namely, that God is good all the time, and His ‘love for those who respect him continues forever’ (Psalm 103:17 NCV). He’s not fickle. He doesn’t bless you one day and curse you the next: His ‘mercies…are new every morning’ (Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV). But there are things God chooses to reveal to us, and ‘secret things’ He doesn’t – for our own good. Writer Beth Jones says: ‘If God keeps a secret from us, it’s for our benefit and the benefit of others…For example, He doesn’t go around blaming, tattling or disclosing our sins, weaknesses, unbelief, carnality, selfishness or pride to others. When things happen, God knows why…Secret things belong to the Lord. And when He reveals something to us, it’s because He wants us to walk in that truth by faith. For example, He reveals His character and His will in His Word…so we can live by faith knowing that He’s good, fair, kind, generous, merciful, faithful, gracious, patient, and He’s in the saving, healing, redeeming, restoring, sanctifying, and blessing business. Things revealed belong to us. When we don’t know why…here’s what we know for sure. God’s Word is truer than our circumstances or experiences…and just because He knows everything about us doesn’t mean He tells us about everything. We also know that when things look bad, God is still good. He’s a giver, not a taker…a blesser, not a curser…and no matter what happens or doesn’t happen, at the end of the day – we still win!’
1. Father in the name of Jesus give us proper understanding of who You are. Amen.
2. Father, let us know that we are Yours for eternity, no matter what our feelings tell us. Amen.
3. Father, in this month of Grace, give us the grace to know that we are never forsaken. Amen.
4. Father, help us to be more God dependent. Deliver us from self sufficiency. Amen.
5. Help me to know Father, that when other helper’s and comfort flee you are there for me.
6. Please help our nation, to navigate this troubling times with divine help
7. You are the help of the helpless, abide with us in all our troubles.
8. Father, please teach us how to stop believing lies and believe the truth. Help us to understand that what we tell ourselves greatly influences and affects the way we feel
Good morning, God bless you and have a great month ahead.
Thank You Jesus.
