There Is No Stopping Us

Song:

Thanks, thanks, we give you thanks, for all you have done in our lives!

We are so blessed; our souls have found rest, O Lord, we give you thanks!

 Topic: There Is No Stopping!

Text: Genesis 11:4-7 KJV — And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

 Introduction:

This Year 2021 has been christened with various phrases, such as: “A Year Of New Beginning“; A Year Of Restoration“, etc. So, what does year 2021 mean for you? Just like the topic says, “THERE’S IS NO STOPPING US“! No one, save God will stop you, from attaining the goals you have set for yourself.

But why would God stop you? Unless your goals/ambitions are unrighteous desires!

It is still early in the day to set audacious goals for year 2021. Otherwise, I would ask, where lies our faith? My confidence is anchored on Luke 1:37. So, go ahead and set such goals! Also, Hebrews 6:10 says, …. God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love in His vineyard. Therefore, our Maker and the righteous God will reward us bountifully this year!

Recall that Year 2020 took a heavy toil on our economy, social life, health, etc. This year, the Lord will arise for us: it is indeed a new dawn, a year of restoration and above all; there is no stopping for us!

Lessons On The Tower Of Babel:

Our text is taken from that story and it clearly illustrates that if you are determined and focused [faith + works], you will achieve your goals.

1. Set Your Goals. In Genesis 11:4, we can see that the people set a goal for themselves, including the relevant steps to actualize it. Have you done so? James 2:20 tells us that faith without works is dead. Therefore, activate your faith through works!

2. Do You Have Understanding Of What You Want To Do? Genesis 11:1 confirmed that the people spoke the same language hence, they could understand each other. There was little or no chance of working at cross-purposes. Are your goals aligned and in tune with your capacity/ability? Would you need to acquire more skills or knowledge in that field? Remember the advice in Hosea 4:6.

3. How Challenging Is That Goal? Genesis 11:4 paints a picture of how tall the ambition of the people was. Perhaps, if they had succeeded, it would have been the tallest tower on earth; reaching heaven! Nevertheless, do NOT embark upon a goal that you cannot convince yourself it is possible to attain. That will amount to lack of wisdom.

4. Imagination! Imagination!! Imagination!!! We were all created in the image and likeness of God, according to Genesis 1:26. This was why God said in Genesis 11:6; that nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. It is time to dream dreams. The Lord will open our eyes to see the invisible and our ears to hear the inaudible. See Isaiah 30:21.

5. Finally, in Genesis 11:7; the Lord decided to confound their language and put confusion in their midst. Why was it so? Was their goal a righteous desire to climb and meet God in heaven? Then the death of our Lord at Calvary would not have been necessary. Did they seek God’s consent prior to embarking on the project? Remember, we are serving a jealous God. See Exodus 34:14.

Therefore, have you presented your goals to the Lord? Certainly, you need His consent to enable you attain. Also, the Word is clear in 1 Samuel 2:9; by strength shall no man prevail!

 Conclusion:

It is still early in the year, less than two [2] weeks old. What do you want to achieve or accomplish this year in your family, career, business, ministry, etc? Could represent your goals.

How do you want to accomplish them? Your actions/works.

Go ahead and present them to the Lord.

In the name of Jesus Christ, it is a done deal!!!

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Isaiah 58:11 talks about the watered garden, whose waters fail not.

Father, please let all my goals for this year be like a watered garden, whose waters fail not.

2. Jeremiah 10:23 says, … it is not in a man that walketh to direct his steps.

Father, this year, please direct my steps.

3. 2 Chronicles 20:15 says, … for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Father, please take over all my battles this year and grant me victory on all sides.

Shalom!!!

Thank You Jesus.
