Be Open To What God Wants To Do

SONG: NEW SEASON by Israel Houghton

[Intro]

It’s a new season, it’s a new day

A fresh anointing is coming my way

It’s a season of power & prosperity

It’s a new season coming to me

[Chorus]

It’s a new season, it’s a new day

A fresh anointing is flowing my way

It’s a new season of power and prosperity

It’s a new season

It’s a new season

It’s a new season

It’s a new season

[Verse 1]

The devil’s time is up, no longer can he bother me.

‘Cause the Creator of the universe, He fathers me.

And it’s transferable, my children’s children shall be free.

It’s a new season

Message Title: Be Open To What God Wants To Do

The year 2020 has been unprecedented. For many people it has not been an easy one, it has pushed us, challenged us, and it has stretched us.

But guess what? We are still here. We’ve had to make sacrifices, bend a little, and make adjustments, but by the grace of the Almighty God, we did not break.

Many times because we are not comfortable with change, we get stuck in what God used to do, instead of moving forward and embracing the new thing that God is doing. Just because God blessed us where we were, doesn’t mean we should just settle down, remain there and become insensitive to the new thing He wants to do.

God told Joshua in the Book of Joshua 1:8, to meditate on His Word day and night, and to carefully do in accordance with all that is written in it, so that he would be successful. God was telling Joshua not to put his trust or confidence in anything else other than His Son, Jesus Christ, the Word of God. The Word of God is to be a Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path. We must never get too comfortable with status, position, achievements, acquisitions, or anything else to the point where we no longer give God First Place in our lives. People have been known to miss out on the move of God because they got comfortable at a certain level and became carried away with the allures of their new level.

I recently read a story that happened in September 2000, when three gentlemen from a small company, approached a leading company at the time, that was in the business of renting out movies and videos. They said, “we’ve got an idea and we would like to partner with you on it. We’ve developed a technology that can send movies through the internet. That way, people wouldn’t have to drive all the way to the store to rent movies and drive back afterwards to return the movies. It would eliminate all the travel.” They were the leading company at that time and were not interested. They said, “No, thanks. We’re the leaders in our field. We know what we are doing.” So, the three gentlemen said, “Fine,” and they left and went back to build on their strengths as a company. The name of that small company is NETFLIX. Today, that small business has taken off, and by April 2020 it had a net worth valued at $125 billion. I should also add that the other company [that was once the leading company], filed for bankruptcy protection in 2010, and had to shut down their last corporate store in 2014. They learnt a huge lesson in the marketplace about being adaptable, flexible and open to new ideas in a changing world.

Brethren, God wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The Amplified Bible captures it this way in the Book of Romans 12:2, And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. Sometimes, arrogance, pride, impatience, a wrong attitude, or anger, can cause us to miss out on the great thing that God wants to do in our lives. It can happen to even the best of us if we are not careful. Moses was one of the greatest leaders in the Old Testament and God used him to accomplish great things. Yet, in the Book of Numbers 20:11, instead of speaking to the rock at Meribah as the LORD had commanded, he struck it as he had done previously at Horeb [Exodus 17:6] and so he disobeyed God and was denied the opportunity of entering into the Promised Land.

Sometimes a minor adjustment can bring about a major improvement. There may be some things in our lives that we need to let go of, adjust or simply improve upon in order to enter into our new season of God’s abundance. We must be willing to  make adjustments to our attitudes, in our career, in our relationships, get rid of toxic relationships that drain us rather than add value, or anything whatsoever that is holding us back from experiencing the fullness of God’s glory.

We should always be open to good, sound and godly advise just as the Bible teaches in the Book of Proverbs 11:14, Where there is no [wise, intelligent] guidance, the people fall [and go off course like a sheep without a helm], but in the abundance of [wise and godly] counselors there is victory. That is why we must be sensitive to those around us and pay particular attention to the people that God has placed in our lives in every season.

It is true that “what God cannot do does not exist,” but do you have faith in Him beyond the rhetoric to believe and act in accordance with His Word? If we are going to experience the supernatural, we have to be sensitive to recognize and respond to God accordingly when the winds are shifting, and not try to hold on to something that God is done with.

PRAYERS

1. Father, we declare that darkness will not continue to humiliate our destiny. We speak Your Light over our lives and we release Your Word to drive out every form of darkness around us, in the Name of Jesus.

2. We release prophetic declarations to the Angels that are assigned to us. We declare that they excel in strength and they hearken unto the voice of God’s Word, to do His commandments concerning us, in the Name of Jesus.

3. We declare according to the Word of God in the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1, that our appointed season and time to manifest God’s purpose is now, and therefore, we enter into that season in the Name of Jesus.

Brethren, everything is working together for your good. Do not be afraid. When Joseph’s brothers ganged up against him, little did they know that they were helping to bring him into his destiny.

Every new season requires a new wine skin. A new season demands new garments.

You are entering your new season in the Name of Jesus

Thank You Jesus.
