Standing on the Promises of God

Scriptural Text: Luke 1: 26-38

Song: Standing on the Promises of Christ

Standing on the promises of Christ my king,

Through eternal ages let his praises ring;

Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:

Standing, standing,

Standing on the promises of God my Savior;

Standing, standing,

I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

Standing on the promises of God.

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.  For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.  He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. (Psalm 47:1-3).

Good morning brethren, let me share a testimony that was shared with us last week:

AS+AS, this is Our Third Child

“As a single young man ready to marry, I literally ran away from more than ten girls because of genotype incompatibility. But when I met my wife and realized that we were also incompatible ‘GENOTYPICALLY’, somehow, I could not run. Against all advice from medical practitioners, spiritual mentors, and friends, my wife and I never lost our peace as we prayed about the ‘suicidal mission’ we were about to embark on. The only thing we were certain God told us is that our children would be famous among the nations and that everyone who sees them will know that they are a people whom God Himself has blessed (Isaiah 61:9).

So, we proceeded and got married 2554 days ago with the assurance that God would give us perfect children. Then He gave us beautiful our First child and the result is AA. He also gave us a wonderful second child and the result is AS. And then we were done and dusted, but God was not done yet, and we had no idea. So, in May 2019 we suddenly realized that there was yet another on the way. I became so afraid and scared that I made up my mind that I was going to discontinue the development and the process.

For days I went from one hospital to another seeking a terminator and I found none. Finally, in my desperation, I found a road-side nurse who said to me, ‘Oga, do not worry, I know where to put my hand and bring out the thing’. My heart sank and that same day, God unleashed a battalion of angels to chastise me through the night, not knowing that my wife had the same experience.  So we prayed, repented, and decided to trust God to complete His mission in this regard.

Today, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, uncles and aunties and well-wishers, do rejoice and pray with us as we actually celebrate the birth of our two sons, the first child is 4 years old today and the third child (that would have been wasted) is 1-year old today. His genotype is AA!

Praise the Lord! God is so good and merciful to us! Happy birthday son!”

Brethren, the above is a testimony from believers, missionaries working in the field. This is not about marrying or not marrying the person with the correct genotype. It is about believing in the promises of God concerning something. It is about having faith in God and trusting Him despite the facts or the science of the situation. It is about believing that Jesus Christ can do the impossible in our lives as Christians. Do you believe?

As the year ends and Christmas approaches, we remember the account of the angelic visit to Mary, the mother of our Lord in Luke 1: 26-38. As the Angel counselled her with the word in verse 37 “For with God nothing will be impossible” Mary believed the Angel and confessed her belief. 38 “Behold the handmaiden of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word”

My brethren, what is that challenge that is almost driving you to take God out of the equation, to commit sin, to take matters into your own hands? What is causing you to sigh each day, to cry or is filling you with fear and anxiety? Is it your health, your children, finances, delays, failures, jobs or businesses?  Remember these are nothing to our God of impossibility.

Our God is immutable, we will receive our promises and He will perfect all that concerns us in Jesus Name. Hold on because all will end in praise.

As the couple with the testimony above, you too will praise the Lord concerning those situations in Jesus Name and you will glorify His Name.

Prayer to end the year

1.      Father please let us end this year with no regrets, no disgrace or bad news in Jesus Name.

2.      Father, please bless us with outstanding miracles as the year ends. Crown it with your abundant goodness.

3.      Father as we enter into the New year gives us revelation concerning this Year 2021 in Jesus Name.

4.      Our Personal Prayers.

5.      The Lord will hear and honour our prayers in Jesus Name.

God bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ. It is well. Compliments of the season!
