The truth is what the world needs

The Book of Ephesians 6 says,

  1. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].
  2. So stand firm and hold your ground, HAVING TIGHTENED THE WIDE BAND OF TRUTH [personal integrity, moral courage] AROUND YOUR WAIST and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS [an upright heart]

The world has been overtaken by falsehood, and as a result there is chaos everywhere. Everywhere we look all across the world, there is one form of chaos or another, in varying degrees, and all of it is traceable to falsehood. What the world needs is the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in the Book of Hebrews 1:1-3, In many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets, 2. [But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]. It is Truth that holds everything together. Truth is what prepares us and makes us ready to be used of God. In the Book of 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22, the Bible says, But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; to that hold fast. 22. Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.

Our lives as Believers, should be centered around Jesus, and everything we do should be drawn from that all-encompassing center. If we do not have Truth, we don’t have anything. Without Truth we are empty. We have nothing to offer the world. We have nothing to give anyone if we do not have the Truth. In fact, without the Truth, we are merely existing. But when we know the Truth, and we live the Truth, we caN engage our weapons quickly and confidently, and we go from mere existence to meaningful existence.

Truth gives us the boldness and courage to stand against our enemy. Why should Truth be a primary concern for the child of God? Because it is what God recommends for us in the Book of Ephesians 6:14, where it says, stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God. It should be a primary concern for the child of God because Satan’s weapons are the exact opposite. Do you know what Satan’s weapons are? They are falsehood and deception. Satan wants to deceive you. He wants to destroy you. He wants to take away your influence in this world. And so he works against the Truth of God in your life. Satan uses falsehood to orchestrate chaos in the world, and he has been doing so from the moment he was thrown out of Heaven.

We live in a world where “truth” has taken on different meanings, depending on what color of lenses you are wearing. So, it has become common to have different “truths” based on the personal feelings, opinions and perceptions of people.

As children of God, we know that God is Truth. He is the God of Truth and there is no variableness or shadow of turning with Him. He is so infallible that His Word creates whatever He says. We must not be deceived into accepting anything else other than the Word of God, as Truth. If we accept anything else, we are in error, and we have embraced falsehood.

How can we actively overcome falsehood?
First of all, I believe that we have a duty and responsibility to study the Bible [which is the constitution that guides our lives as children of God], so that we are aware of what it says concerning God’s truth. That way, we are equipped to confront falsehood wherever it is presented and counter it with the truth. To do battle with the enemy, every Believer needs to know the truth about God, and His Word. The Bible tells us in the Book of 2 Timothy 2:15, Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved [tested by trial], a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightfully handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
We ought to be involved in a daily, regular regimen of Bible study, if not, our minds will be swayed by every wind of falsehood that is thrown up in the airwaves. Our mind is our most critical weapon in battle, therefore, we must ensure that it is braced in the sound doctrine of God’s Truth.

I pray that as God’s people, we will consciously and deliberately, make the knowledge of God’s Truth and His Word, the paramount pursuit of our lives.

I pray that we will study to know the Truth.

I pray that beyond just studying to know the Truth, that we will submit to the Truth, so that the Holy Spirit will be empowered to work in us and through us to accomplish God’s purpose, in the Name of Jesus.
