TEXT: Proverbs 4:18 KJV — But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
What is righteousness? Jeremiah 23:6 gives a simple and straightforward definition. It clearly states that the Lord is our righteousness; and in Hebrew language means Jehovah Tsidkenu. This implies, as believers, we can be on the right standing with God because Jesus Christ paid the price for our righteousness. We can lay claim to righteousness because of our Lord and Saviour.
Proverbs 14:34 KJV — Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. It is only sin that can dislodge us from that path.
May the Lord enthrone righteousness upon our dear country, Nigeria.
How Do We Walk And Remain On The Righteous Path?
1. Amos 3:3 KJV — Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
We can remain on this path by walking with Jesus. He is Lord. Therefore, the starting point is to accept Him and abide with other terms and conditions laid out in His Word. You can find the summary in John 3:3-5 and Isaiah 1:19.
2. According to Genesis 6:9b-c, Noah was just, perfect and walked with God. He did everything that God commanded him to do as confirmed in Genesis 6:22. He and his household were the only ones saved when God destroyed the earth by flood. See Genesis 7:23. What a blessing to walk on the righteous path! May we continue to tread on that path in Jesus name, Amen!
3. In Matthew 3:1-2; we read how John the Baptist did the work of God. You can ascribe to him the title “forerunner” to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. See how Jesus described him in Matthew 11:11 KJV — Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
How committed are you to the work of God? Especially in the area of evangelism, which is the heartbeat of God. We can also encourage the evangelists and missionaries that are already in the field.
4. Mark 12:43-44 KJV — And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
This is the story about the widow’s mites. The lesson: are you prepared to give sacrificially to God’s work? Not necessarily the heaviness of the amount, but giving without grudge, and cheerfully too. As we obey, may the Lord count that for us as righteous giving.
a] Father, as I walk on that righteous path, let my light shine brighter and brighter unto that perfect day.
b] Hebrews 12:14 say….. Without holiness no man can see God. Father, anything that will take me away from you, please take it away from me.
c] John the Baptist was a forerunner to the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are all meant to play same role before His second coming. Father, embolden me to preach the Word in season and out of season.
d] Father, today’s the first working day of this week. I declare in the name of Jesus, it shall be an excellent week unto me and my loved ones!
e] Father, remember Nigeria and show us mercy in every area of our lives. Please enthrone righteousness and let your peace reign in Nigeria.
