Topic : The Lord is Our Shepherd

Text : Psalm 23

Good morning everyone. Believe all is well and believe we had a good night rest. Today, we shall by the grace of God be sharing on the popular Psalm, Psalm 23; The Lord is My Shepherd.

Today’s message was also inspired by the Open Heavens devotional of Saturday, September 12 2020.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. This means that the Lord is our provider ; our Jehovah Jireh.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

This means that the Lord leads us on the paths of having a right standing with Him. And it further states that it is For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil;

This means that in very dangerous and challenging times the Almighty God is always by our side. God never leaves us nor forsakes us. Like the song which says;I have a very big God Oh, Who is always by my side, a very big God oh, by my side by my side.

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

This means that, like the rod of a shepard, which the shepherd uses to direct his flock, and chastise the flock were required, same with our God, Who chastises us, where required.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over

The Lord anoints us.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

So shall it be for us in Jesus name. Amen

Father, we thank You Lord for your Word this morning.

Father, please continually be our Shepherd in Jesus name.
