Godly wisdom

Godly Wisdom
Ecclesiastes 7:13-25

In a recent survey, it was found that out of ten Nobel Prize winners, eight were Jews or of Jewish descent. These prizes were given to people who have contributed to mankind in all fields of human activities. So these people have been blessings to mankind because of their achievements and wisdom. Why were the Jews the majority of the Nobel Prize winners?

God told Abraham that his descendants would be many and the world would be blessed through them. This was because Abraham knew and accepted the Almighty God as the beginning and the end of all things.

James, the brother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, gave eight characteristics of divine wisdom in James 3:17. He says “wisdom that is from above (God’s wisdom) is first pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, bears good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

False wisdom, on the other hand, are bitter envy, strife in the heart, glory in profession, sensual lifestyle or living to please self, evil and devilish plans, confusion, etc.

To be truly wise, we need to surrender ourselves and our intellect to God, who is the Maker of all things. As the manufacturer of your handset has the manual about how best to operate it, God knows about all things in this world and the world to come. Let Him rule your life.

When we rely on God for wisdom in all our affairs He inspires and instructs us through the power of His Holy Spirit. We need to accept God and surrender to Him to gain true wisdom in all circumstances. King Solomon showed wisdom when he asked for God’s wisdom. Ask wisdom from God who gives liberally.

Ecclesiastes 7:18 “It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes.”

God of Grace endow me with Your divine wisdom to glorify You in all my ways. In Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
