RETURN TO THE PLACE OF PRAISE
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
The book of Ruth 1:1-7 tells us that Elimelech took his sons and wife and left Bethlehem-Judah because there was a famine. This was just a season, an event in their lives. “Bethlehem” means “the land of bread” and “Judah” means “praise”. Bethlehem-Judah was originally called Ephrata, which means fruitful. So you see it’s a triple combination: a land of bread where praises are lifted up to God that brings about fruitfulness. However, Elimelech and his family left this place. And you will be surprised how many people have deserted the place of praise and success simply because of an event in their lives.
You have to return! An event in your life is not the sum total of your life. The fact that at the moment you are facing a challenge is not the sum total of your life. That should not make you leave praise or the very weapon that will bring you out. Elimelech took his family away from the land because there was a famine. What was the consequence of this action? They died in a strange land. I declare that you will not die in a strange land.
The devil wants to shift your focus because he specializes in pulling you out of your place. This is because it is in your place that blessings are commanded. When you are not where you should be, you will be beating about the bush. In the presence of the Lord is fullness of joy; at His right hand are pleasures forever. You may say that I don’t know what you are going through and that’s why you can’t find yourself worshipping. You can’t start in the flesh and then end in the spirit. Whether you like it or not, just worship. It wasn’t easy for Paul and Silas; their backs were lacerated, they had pains all over, blood was gushing out, and yet they knew that their only option was to praise the Lord. And the Bible says Paul and Silas prayed after that they sang praises and the prison doors opened. I believe some doors will be opened for you when you start praising God today. Things that you thought could not be done will occur in your life when you return to praise. I bless you in the name of the Lord.
