Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2
Every true Christian is part of the Bride of Christ. If you love Jesus, then one day your Groom will come, sweep you away and carry you across the threshold of heaven.
But something is troubling me. I find many people who claim to be born-again Christians, lovers of God, who spend the majority of their day thinking about everything but God. If we truly love Him, and can’t wait to be with Him, then we should be like a young bride who is about to be married. I’ve never seen a sad bride. Any bride, prior to that great and wonderful wedding day, is consumed with thinking about her groom.Matthew_22-37-2: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind
The relevance of J. H. Jowett’s words on this subject should be heeded by every born-again believer.
They say that Samuel Rutherford used to fall asleep speaking of Christ, and that if during the hours of sleep his unconscious lips muttered anything it was found to be about his Lord. We need to practice ourselves in these things. The more we commune with the Lord, the more we will “love His appearing.” The more time we spend with Him, the more we shall be charged with the consuming expectancy to see Him”as He is.”
I’m afraid that many Christians are not ready to meet the Lord in the air. Are you? Are you consumed with Jesus, or are there other idols in your life? Is He your passion? Would you rather be with Him than anyone else on earth?
